1. Describe the Presentation Tool or Screencasting Tool you used. Provide a link to the website.
I used "Prezi", a wonderful and living presentation tool for ideas of any size. By using Prezi, I can make a presentation more lively and animatedly by choosing presentation templates from various forms. And if I want more template styles I can get them after paying for that. After selecting the template, I can draw straight lines, resize and bend lines and arrows. I think Prezi's dynamic zooming features and simple video embedding are most amazing.
2. Describe the presentation or activity you created using the tool. Provide a link to the location of your embedded presentation on your Google Site.
I made a presentation of reading, vocabulary, and grammar-centered class for high school students. This presentation shows the title of a new chapter, grammar points, new vocabulary and post-reading questions. This week, I taught lesson 2 to my students using this presentation. Their reaction, curiosity and concentration for class were pretty good, I think that's because Prezi was a whole new presentation tool for my students. Especially when they saw the presentation slides moved animatedly just by clicking once or twice, students were filled with admiration.
3. Describe your experience using the tool.
While organizing a presentation by using Prezi, I felt Prezi is something of a novelty. I previously used Power Point, however, when I come to know Prezi, I can make a live and animated presentation with Prezi. At first, it took for quite a long time to make presentation because Prezi was a new presentation tool to me. I believe I will be familiar with this useful education technology soon.
Would you recommend it to other teachers? Why or why not?
I definitely recommend Prezi to my colleague teachers. In fact, all of them are using Power Point and I think they have no idea of Prezi. If they keep up with Prezi, then they will feel the same feeling that I experienced. I hope my colleague teachers make more useful and sensational presentation and enjoy their class.
4. Describe potential uses the tool could have in the Korean EFL learning context.
Now I am teaching high school students and their classroom environment is quite different from elementary's or middle school's in that high school class time is 50 minutes and their learning point is reading and grammar. Furthermore, they are likely to listen to the lecture just writing down what the teacher emphasizes. In other words, high school class is more academic and most of the time no activities included. I think prezi is very effective education technology and can be a useful presentation tool for high school students. The strong points of Prezi are it is lively, animated and easy to access the essential parts by zooming in and out. Therefore, showing students Prezi presentation, students interests and attention will last more than before. I expect Prezi will play an important role in EFL learning context.
